“We believe Warsh will face a difficult challenge in building a compelling case for rate cuts this year. Even before the recent Middle East conflict and the associated rise in oil prices, inflation was showing signs of remaining stubbornly above the Federal Reserve’s target. Both Fed funds futures and TIPS breakeven rates suggest that market participants expect inflation pressures to persist,” Kim Escue, CFA, portfolio manager at Shelton Capital Management, said.
